What is the difference between phone line monitoring and cellular monitoring? Do I need a phone line to have a security system installed?
Home phone lines are becoming antiquated and becoming a thing of the past as well as unreliable. The security system relies on the communicator to contact the central monitoring center. The cell communicator eliminates phone lines being cut by intruders. A cell communicator is faster and more reliable and depending on which one you choose it can give you the ability to use your system remotely from an app.
Will I own the equipment?
Yes, with Guardian Security Systems the equipment that is purchased is yours to keep.
What does an alarm system consist of?
The typical Guardian Security System consists of protection on all exterior doors and windows. Interior motion detection and a main panel/keypad from which you arm and disarm your system. Of course, we gladly show you how to use these as well.
Does the alarm work when the power is out?
Yes, all alarm systems include a battery backup in case of power outages.
Why do I need monitoring services? Wont the siren be enough protection?
As we all know when a car alarm goes off people just look away. The monitoring doesn’t just offer you a phone call. It offers you peace of mind knowing that, if needed, the police will be dispatched. Plus, many of times your insurance company will offer a discount on your homeowners’ insurance.
What happens if I accidentally trigger my system?
No worries, because the central station will simply call you to verify if the alarm was accidental, At this point if dispatch is needed you will tell the operator or explain it was just a false alarm.
What does Alarm.com offer me?
Alarm.com offers a wide variety of things like the ability to remotely arm and disarm your system from an app on your smart phone or computer. It also allows you to integrate automations to your home like controlling door locks, lights, garage doors, thermostats and much more!
How does motion detectors work when I’m home?
In most applications you’ll have the motion detector off when you are home to reduce false alarms. You would simply arm your security system to “Stay” to automatically bypass the motion sensors.
Am I protected in the event of a fire?
If your current alarm system does not include a monitored smoke/fire detector if can be easily added to almost any system and is always highly recommended.
How can I open my windows to get fresh air, but still have my alarm active?
You would have to bypass that specific zone which would leave you vulnerable or contact us to add additional magnets to your window sensors called “Venting magnets” which would allow you to arm the system. So if someone tried to move the window from that exact position it would then trigger an alarm.
